BEETHOVENFEST Every year in the autumn, Beethoven’s native city of Bonn celebrates the Beethovenfest, welcoming top international orchestras, well-known soloists, major ensembles and promising young performers. The tradition of Beethoven festivals in Bonn reaches back to 1845, when a three-day music event was held to mark the dedication of the Beethoven Monument on the Münsterplatz on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the composer’s birth. The Bonn Beethovenfest has existed in its modern form, namely an annual four-week festival in the late summer / early autumn, since 1999.
